Traditional Village Pub and Steakhouse
BEERS
We have three hand pumps for real cask ales and always have our local
Howardtown Brewery 'Wrens Nest' on draught, our other two pumps change
regularly but we have well known favorites like Bombardier, Wainwrights, Black
Sheep, Pedigree etc making visits all the time. We also have John Smiths and
Boddingtons Keg with three lagers to choose from as well...Stella Artois, Carlsberg,
and Carling extra cold.

Wren's Nest 4.2% ABVWren's Nest is a light hoppy beer, made with Halcyon and Crystal malts, and Pioneer and Cascade hops. Wren's Nest is the 2007 SIBA National Supreme Champion Beer, and the 2006 SIBA Midlands Supreme Champion Beer. It also won the Best Bitter category at the Sheffield Beer Festival 2006, and was runner up overall. It was voted Beer of the Festival at the 2007 Stockport Beer Festival The beer is named after the Wren Nest Mill complex, just north of Glossop High Street, behind the Globe Pub. Sadly, large scale redevelopment of the area has demolished the landmark mill chimney, and it's unlikely that many wrens will be nesting there in the future. However, we hope that sampling the slightly bitter yet fruity Wren's Nest will in some small way compensate for the loss of these delightful birds. |
