Your hosts, Bob & Irene Skupham, daughters Hannah and Jessica and all our loyal staff, welcome you to our little Pub here in the lovely village of Old Glossop, (the Gateway to the High Peak)

It is our intention to bring to your tables good, honest, home-cooked food using local suppliers wherever possible.
We work closely with Mettricks butchers, Sowerbutts greengrocers and Praze Fine Foods in Glossop, our fishmonger Tony delivers fresh fish to us twice a week.
All our suppliers provide us with not only excellent produce but excellent service and expertise.
All the pastries and batters for our pies and puddings are hand made from scratch and of course we serve fresh home cut chips, (not frozen!).

Please note that we do not have a 'Children's Menu' offering children's 'processed' style food but we will cook any of our meals in a smaller portion. If they really want 'chicken nuggets' then we will make some for them, using fresh chicken and home made batter.

    STEAKS

     

    We will cook your steak to your liking Blue, Rare, Medium/Rare, Medium, Medium/Well or Well done.

  • Surf 'n' Turf…add a skewer of garlic basted black king prawns for £ 4 . 95
  • Fillet
  • A generous piece of beautiful lean succulent steak, at least 7oz. We have developed a 'house' cooked style for this steak, because it is usually about 2" thick and 3" in diameter, it can be cooked 'well done' on the outside giving that lovely steak aroma but will remain pink and soft inside….delicious £ 19 . 75

  • Rib-Eye
  • This 10oz steak with its fine marbling gives excellent moistness and great flavour. £ 15 . 50

  • Rump
  • A mighty steak (16oz) with a firmer texture and a mighty flavour. £ 15 . 75

  • Sirloin
  • Myth tells us that this Loin steak was 'Knighted' by a King gone by and became 'Sir Loin'……nice story but completely untrue, ours are supplied by 'Mettricks'. £ 16 . 95

  • All Steaks can be served with 'garlic butter' or add Peppercorn, Chasseur or Diane sauce for £ 2 . 25
  • All the above items are served with griddled tomato, mushrooms, home made onion rings and home cut chips.

  • 'Barnsley' Lamb Chops
  • A pair of double lamb loin chops grilled plain or basted with Bob's honey and mustard marinade served with home cut chips and garden peas. The price will vary depending on the weight and market price but will be between £13 and £16. Check price

  • Char grilled Fresh Chicken Breast
  • We can cook this plain, with Cajun spices or basted with garlic butter and it can be served with any combination of salad, rice or home cut chips. £ 9 . 95

  • 'Horseshoe' Gammon Steak
  • A full slice of Danish gammon, 16oz approx served with 2 eggs or pineapple with home cut chips and garden peas. £ 11 . 95

  • 8oz Gammon Steak
  • A half slice of our 'Horseshoe' gammon with egg or pineapple and home cut chips and garden peas. £ 8 . 95

  • Fillet Steak Stroganoff.
  • Strips of Fillet steak cooked with mushrooms, onions, wholegrain mustard and cream, served with rice or chips. We started this dish as a 'special' and it became so popular and well received it is now permanent.

  • Fresh sliced pan fried mushrooms with onions cooked with wholegrain mustard and fresh local cream. £8.75

  • 'Dark Peak Sausage'
  • Winner of the 'Best Pub Sausage of the Year 2010'

    Our own recipe sausages are made for us by Mettricks using their award winning 'Old English' recipe with the addition of Howardtown Brewery's 'Dark Peak Ale', we serve them with plain, 'mustard' or 'garlic' flavoured mashed potato and a rich onion gravy. £8 . 95

  • Sea Bass
